Under the bridge

To make it pleasant to roam under the bridge, firstly the river must be clean, and walkway clear of any clutters.

It will be better if gentle breeze whistles through under the bridge!

练习 Practice

Enough of watching various tutorial on photography in YouTube. It's time put my knowledge into practice!

There is no shortcut in learning new skills, but to put into practice the various knowledge we learnt.

I am very tempted to purchase new lenses to complement various styles of photography. But, eventually reality gets the better of me ... there is truly no need to spend tonnes of money on new lenses or camera, I am just an amateur photographer!

Glow in the dark

Groping in the dark can be quite daunting.

Fortunately, a garden city like Singapore is spared of such predicament. The streets and roads are lit up by street lights.

That's why for those pampered few, driving along state roads in Malaysia can be quite a challenge. The entire road can be pitched dark, unless there are other vehicles coming from opposite direction (with their headlights shining bright).

“捕风捉影” chasing the light and shadow

Was told umpteen times by friends and relatives in recent weeks, that I had gained tremendous weight!

(hint... to an unhealthy level)

Not that I was oblivious of it, but I was astounded by the extent of my body "expansion" when I looked at my recent photos!

Yes, it is time to loose some weight. There is no better way to lose weight than doing some brisk walking and snapping photos at the same time.

Hence, my new hobby in chasing light and shadow!

The many faces of Mantis

Mantis, our adorable dog, has been with us for nearly 6 months.

He has improved a lot since his first arrival to our home ... within one month or so, he learnt to pee and poo in grass patches outside our condominium. From being totally mute, he started to bark when we teased him with his evening meals. He even barked when there were delivery men knocking on our door.

However, he is still rather timid - avoiding crowd and other dogs if he can. Even when we brought him to dog run park, he never approached other dogs voluntarily. Even when we call him /ask him to come to us, he will hesitate, unless we have some food items with us.

One good thing about him - he never rejects any food offered, and will clean up all food without any traces. We joked that he is truly a "vacuum cleaner" - his bowl is sparkly clean after every meal.

These are his many facial expression...

Outdoor 户外

It's good to go outdoor and enjoy the sunshine.

It may surprised many that despite staying in the midst of tropical country with sunshine throughout the year (except for days of sporadic showers), many people in Singapore have insufficient or sometimes deficient level of Vitamin D in their body. Perhaps, many of us have been rather comfortable with the cool comfort of home.

Running after...

It looked as if the lady on bicycle is running after the man who was walking leisurely in the pedestrian walkway. There was no way the man was going to escape the "clutches" of the iron lady!

Blue collar workers

There is a vast descrepancy in the salaries of blue collar versus white collar workers, particularly in Asia.

As a result, most youngsters shun away from blue collar jobs.

And government has to import foreign workers to take up blue collar jobs. Otherwise, major constructions (those involving housing, shipping) and public hygiene will face major challenges.

Don't overlook contribution made by blue collar workers! Without them, a lot of things will reach stalemate / standstill!

short trip to Johor Bahru/Kulai - "makan" trip

Kulai town area

Parking lot at Econ Mart @ Kulai

I have made 3 trips to Johor Bahru / Kulai post-pandemic.

If one has time, it is certainly worthwhile to make a short trip to Johor state - to savour the local food delights, and buy groceries. And of course, don't forget to top up petrol before returning to Singapore.

心情沮丧 feeling down and out lately

My mother's passed on 1 month ago. Ever since returning to Singapore after completing the funeral ritual in Nibong Tebal, I felt kind of down and out lately.

Fortunately, my passion for work is still strong. That really keeps me going!

Yes, I am sad that my mother has left us for good. On the other hand, it may also be a blessing that she departed peacefully, without much sufferings. No doubt, she was still bedridden from her neurological disorder. But she left us after her bed sores had healed, and urinary catheter removed. She might have some swallowing dysfunction, but she was still able to take food orally. She was still able to recognise people and converse (albeit in a very soft voice) till the day she departed.

Most importantly, she passed on peacefully at home!
