Happiness

The picture above inevitably evokes the feeling of elation and freedom.
How often do we experience such overwhelming emotion?
Our minds are so overloaded with worldly burdens that we often have no time for relaxation.
But try we must ... to find time for solace.
Don't let never ending tasks overwhelm us.
Seek tranquility ....

Cross-road

Ever encounter occasions when you are in a cross-road, having a hard time deciding which direction to go?
The roads ahead appears quite clear, but you still hesitate. Because, you are not sure if there is some hidden hurdles further down the road. What if there is something lurking round the corner?
Life is full of choices and decisions. We win some, and lose some. It's not going to be smooth sailing all the time. Hence, it is important to learn from our mistakes and move on!

Sometimes you are caught in the bottleneck. Be patient, nothing is permanent. The bottleneck will clear, sooner or later.

Relax... carry on at your own pace. Things will turn out well eventually.

Random photos... continue

Exploring photography.
Learning how to take pictures with prime lens, with manual focus.

On the road, driving along Nicoll Highway to Raffles City

Bus stop just outside Jalan Enam, opposite Old Airport Hawker Centre

Traffic light junction between Lavendar Street and Kallang Rd

Photos taken in Soofu Restaurant, celebrating mother-in-law's birthday. Alas, the white balance was set at daylight - hence, all the photos were yellow-tinged with ambient tungsten lighting.

Snapshots of Raffles Retail Mall

Fumbling along the way, trying to do manual focus and ensure adequate exposure. I guess it is a learning process.

Firework display

There are ample opportunities to view firework display during major festivities such as New Year Eves, National Day Celebration and Lunar New Year Spring Festival.

When we were still staying in Choa Chu Kang, we used to time our drive out to Sheares Bridge, just in time to view the firework show (typically at 8pm) during National Day Celebration. Usually, the bridge would be jammed pack with vehicles, stopping or driving slowly to view the firework.

Since moving into Dakota Crescent, we can view firework display from our balcony. In fact, we have been seeing the firework show at nauseum, that we hardly give it a thought nowadays.

It was different this year - I was keen to capture a few snapshots of the fireworks with my new camera. Viewed Youtube for guide on taking photos of firework, bought a tall and steady tripod, got a remote control for taking photos (to minimize camera shake), took a few trial shots of the scenes without firework ... all set and ready.

Somehow, the firework show started quite late, about 8.20-8.30pm (not the usual 8pm). Nevertheless, managed to capture snap shots of the fireworks ....

Quite happy with the photos.

on the bike

Ever ride a bike alone in the middle of the night, venturing aimless into nowhere, enjoying the cool air blowing onto your face, and letting your mind run free?

It is even more thrilling when it drizzles, with water dripping splashing and slowing dripping down your face! Hopefully your are not wearning glasses, otherwise your vision will be obscured in no time.

I did that in my younger days, when I was staying in my home town in Nibong Tebal. The traffic was not so congested, and it's safe to drive out for a "stroll". Somehow, the journey would end up in some eateries nearby... ended up taking supper before driving home.

I once rode a bike as the sky was raining cats and dogs. My bike skidded as I was turning round a curve. My bike and I landed sideway onto the road... lucky for me it was just minor injuries with some abrasion in my legs. No, it was not a night drive though.

Did I mention that I had not passed my motorbike driving test... as yet?!?!

CJ moving into NTU Hall 12

CJ will be starting his new journey in National Technology University next week.
He had orientation programs one after another before the school term starts on 13 August 2019.
He had just returned from an orientation outing organized by his hall the night before, and had to book into his room last night (getting ready for faculty orientation camp today).

We left our house at 10 pm, reached NTU Hall 12 by 10.40pm or so.

Hall of Residence 12

He stays in a double room, together with his schoolmate. The room is quite spacious, and equipped with air condition unit (but need to purchase of top up card to run the unit).
We left him with his room mate shortly thereafter...
