Hangzhou - Suzhou III

Day 6 of travel: Suzhou

Suzhou is well known for its ancient heritage - particularly that of mansion/gardens of ancient government officials. We only had time to visit two of the famous gardens of Suzhou We joined the local tour which brought us to visit

Both gardens were packed with tourists as it happened to be a weekend. We weren't particularly impressed with the gardens though.

The temple was quite a surprise, with elegant statues of Buddha and other Chinese gods.

the famous poem

Not quite worth the trip. The building and statues were rather dismal. Not much of captivating scenery. The tomb of 唐伯虎is located in the compound.

River cruise along the Suzhou Canal. We had made the same journey the night before. Since it was included in the local tour package, we just had to tag along.

Day 7 of travel: Suzhou - Visit to Tiger Hill
Truly fascinating. A place not to be missed in Suzhou. Many ancient sites there (斜塔,剑池,千人石).

We traveled to Shanghai via fast train in the afternoon, and checked into the hotel near People's Square. The hotel was just within 2 minutes walk from the shopping belt, and probably 15 minutes walk from the BUND. Joined a night cruise along Pudong River.
The view of towering shopping centre and ancient architectures was simply amazing!
