又见中秋 Mid-autumn festival

盂兰盆一过，中秋节将至。

附近沿河走道，挂上了灯饰及深红色的灯笼。牛车水也灯饰也纷纷上场。最近更有网上新闻报道，横阔马路的灯饰，因不负重荷而低陷下去，导致双层巴士前路被堵，无法前行。乘客们需改乘单层巴士，方能续程。不难想象，当时的交通会多混乱！

Mid-autumn festival is approaching.

Light decors were put up along the pedestrian park-connector next to our condominium.

And of course, red lanterns and moon-cakes are obligatory during this festive season!

With rising inflation in recent months, the cost of moon-cakes seems to have sky-rocketed as well! And quite a few people with scammed when they downloaded apps to purchase 'discounted' moon-cakes.

I must find a good time to visit Chinatown, to take photos of the light decors there. Surprisingly, I haven't heard of negative comments about light decors in Chinatown so far!

老者的庇护

其实，并不是每个老者都会倚老卖老，令人反感。

不少年长者，经过时间的磨练与洗礼，所累积下来的工作经验，是很难从书本上体会得到的。

就如成年老树，默默的，直挺挺的伫立一旁，不知扶持并庇护了多少个后辈，让他们成长，发光发亮！

Do not underestimate the contribution of elders.

There is a lot to be learnt from their vast experience; some of them can never be learnt from the books.

Just like to tree above... it provides shelter and support to various plants, so that the latter can flourish. Just like an elderly gentleman mentoring his subordinates / youngsters relentlessly, so that they can outperform him in the future.

Bay East Garden

It has been a while since I last brisk walked all the way from Dakota Crescent to Bay East Garden. I usually detoured back after reaching Tanjung Rhu Suspension Bridge.

Having just bought a 16mm Yongnuo prime lens, I thought of taking some snap shots of the scenes as I went for my walking exercise along Bay East Garden.

It is not easy to take photos with wide angle lenses. It makes the distant objects look rather small.

The entire "return trip" took me almost 2 hours. Back home in time just before the evening downpour!

抉择 Making choices

陌路人

该如何把彼此的距离拉近呢？

一个人在人生路途中需要做好几个抉择。比如该选那一间高等学府深造，在哪一家公司就业等等。

影响最深的，莫过于在择偶这一方面。

若选错对象，意见不合，轻则唇舌交战，重则剑拔弩张，拳脚相向，整个家都闹得鸡犬不宁，呜呼哀哉！

若所选的对象，彼此情投意合，双方都能互相体谅，支持与照顾，那是多美好呀！

Many a time we have to make tough choices in our life. What courses to take, which university to go to, which company should I join, should I work overseas etc etc...

The one that carries the most significant impact is probably the choice of our life partner. This carries significant long term impact, not only on ourselves, but also on others, It has strong bearing on our offsprings in the future.

However, we must remember that even having arrived at our best choice, there may be some unchartered territory that may creat unwanted headwinds in our future endeavours. When this happens, we have to face it steadfastly, and not been defeated by it.

新索尼相机镜头试拍

 趁着9-9促销日，网购了两台相机镜头。一个是索尼的50毫米1.8光圈自动对焦镜头，另一个则是Yongnuo18毫米自动对焦镜头；前者昨天收到，今天便带着它往加冷体育馆试拍。

比起我之前所拥有的手动对焦镜头，自动对焦清晰度是明显更上一层楼！虽然后者比前者贵了150新币左右，但的确是物有所值！

I have an entry level Sony A6000 mirrorless camera, and bought manual Meike 25mm and 50mm lenses 2 years ago.

The problem with manual lenses is getting a sharp image can be quite challenging at times. And I am not willing to fork out large sum of money to purchase fast (aka large aperture) automatic prime lenses.

Noticed that some prime lenses are on sale in 9-9 event. Bought a Sony 50mm prime lens and Yongnuo 18mm prime lens respectively. 

Tried Sony prime lens (which arrived earlier) - quite happy with the image quality!

Hopefully, Yongnuo wide angle lens will be as good! (keep fingers crossed). 

层层叠叠

 

层层叠叠的梯级，栏杆，各有不同的含意。

前者意味着“步步高升”，后者则含有“围堵牵制”之意。

不过投影在梯级的线条，似乎在提醒上来者，前方路途可能会有些未知的挑战，别掉以轻心！

而以下的石灰柱与铁条合成的栏杆，却带有引导路人沿着规定的道路向前行，以防误入歧途！

运动 Exercises

运动能促进个人健康，减少患上三高的风险。对于年长者，运动更加重要。它能减少患上老人痴呆病症的几率。

最适合年长者的户外运动，莫过于慢步走动。若体能强壮，关节还挺健全的话，快步走动或慢跑，更能促进心脏血液循环的效率！

It seems that outdoor exercises such as slow/brisk walking and light jogging are favourites of many people (both young and old). This is particularly true in the midst of COVID pandemic recently, where people are eager to escape the confine of home". Any valid excuse to get out of "quanrantine" is quickly snapped up by all.

Doing exercises along exercise trails in various neighbourhood park connectors or nature parks are very convenient and safe. Of course, it is best done in the morning or late afternoon, when the weather is not too hot!

旋涡

 

当一个人被卷入漩涡时，很难凭个人力量从中解脱出来，往往得靠旁人相助，方能脱险。

就好比碰到难题时，往往当局者迷，得依赖旁人的指点，方能突破迷局。

当然最好是能小心行事，尽量在风平浪静的水面上滑溜，避免触礁或翻船。

Getting ready 在筹备当中。。。即将推出，请拭目以待。

There is a new extension of exercise trail along Geylang River, opposite Tanjung Rhu HDB estate, towards Kallang Promenade.

The trail is closed for traffics, but appears to undergo last phase of sprucing up and will soon be ready for use.

Took a snap shots of the trail when doing my leisure walk/photo-shoot a few days ago. Fairly pleasant scenery.

从我家的阳台，可看到那波光闪闪的芽笼河，由左延申到右，横阔蒙巴登车道，向加冷体育馆流去。

在美化环境及鼓励国人多运动的驱使下，原本是一片绿悠悠草场，被改装为运动走道。整个工程消耗了好几个月时间，看来将要竣工。

错觉 Misperception

 

 

前天在附近运动走道闲逛时，看到了对岸的方形建筑物。那建筑物前方铺着绿油油的草地，其“下半身”给排列一行的树木与其枝叶挡住。乍看之下，仿佛正置身于欧洲的某一国度！

As I walked leisurely along the exercise trail along Geylang River towards Kallang Stadium, the squarish building on the other side of Geylang River looks like some kind of silo in some European countries.

The row of trees stretching across the exercise trail on the riverbank adds a little mystic touch to the scene. It makes one wonder how the entrance to the building looks like?

无题 It doesn't matter

步行拍照时，碰到以上景象。

一个钓鱼者，在栏杆边摆了4-5个鱼竿，以防万一。

也许有人会觉得他贪得无厌，但我倒觉得无可厚非。若能在同样的时间内，能一次过捕获多几只鱼，何乐而不为呢？他是在巧妙的，充分的利用短暂的时光！

I chanced upon a man who put up a row of 5 fishing rods, waiting patiently for his catch.

Is he being greedy? I beg to differ.

I think he is making full use of whatever time he has, to maximise his catch/return! There is nothing wrong with that!

偷窥 Peeping

你看到什么了？

人人都有个坏习惯，喜欢偷窥他人的隐私。

君不见在武侠电影剧里，不管是好人或坏人，都会在夜里，身着夜行衣，飞窜到敌方的房门外，用手指捅破纸窗，透过小小的洞口，窥视屋内的情况！

当今社会，在偷窥的同时还会录下视频，以待日后观看！一不小心，给人逮了个正着，犯罪物证确凿，唯有束手就擒。

Whenever there is a pinhole through a wall, it is inevitable that someone will peep through the hole to see what is behind the wall. 

As the saying curiosity kills that cat, sometimes one may get more than what is anticipated, in the negative way.

In search of support and trust in uncertain time 寻找依靠，信赖。。。

 

Floating around aimlessly like a ball, in the sea of uncertainty. When you thought you have found a place of embarkment and support, look and behold, your every move is being scrutinized by a hidden someone! Sigh... where are the innate trust of humanity?

毫无目的的在湖面上漂浮，以为可以安详的靠岸，有一个依靠。可惜还没靠岸，便被人监视。人与人的互信，再也不复存在。可悲，可叹！
