Finally, our daughter (CY) tied the wedding knot with Kevin on 14 Jan 2023.
The wedding was supposed to be held 1-2 years back, but had to be deferred because of travel restriction caused by Covid pandemic.
The auspicious day was finalized to be on 14 Jan 2023, which happened to be one week before Lunar New Year.
We met up with Kevin's parents (our future in-laws) for the first time when we attended CK's graduation ceremony last month.
男大当婚,女大当嫁 (one should get married as he/she grows older)... this is the wish of all parents.
It is a mixed feeling to "send off" your daughter to another family. And of course, we are gaining a son-in-law after the ceremony!
I am not being boastful to say that it is indeed a match made in heaven (天定良缘). If CY did not go to do Foundation Year study in Melbourne after her O Level, and stayed back to do her internship in local law firm in Melbourne after her graduation, she would not have met up with Kevin.
My wife would rather prefer her to stay back and pursue her career in Singapore. At least, she has close family members to fall back to when she faces various challenges in life. But, CY pressed on with her decision to stay in Melbourne to pursue her way of life.
We started to realise that CY and Kevin were in some kind of relationship when CY started to show up in Kevin's place for dinner, and Kevin turned up in Singapore to visit CY a few months later.
Kevin. our son-in-law, is certainly very capable and caring. He had shown us in his unwavering action that he would be a good life partner for CY. My wife was amazed at his cooking skills. I am confident that his meticulous life style will complement my daughter's disorganization.
The entire wedding ceremony - from morning make-up session, outdoor photography session, wedding vows in Melbourne Town Hall, and evening reception at Alto Event Space, followed by KTV session post-reception - was all planned by Kevin and CY. It went meticulously without any hitches. (This is completely different from the way wedding ceremony is conducted in Singapore).
My wife and I arrived in Melbourne on 11 Jan 2023, to see if we could help out in any way.
CJ (our youngest son) arrived with my brother-in-law and his family on 13 Jan 2023, We stayed in Melbourne City Apartment, which is located next to CY's apartment for 2 nights.

I rented an 8-seater car for the event. This came in handy in fetching CY and Kevin to Parliament House for outdoor wedding shots.
