Is the grass truly greener on the other side?

Looking for ahead, and delving into what we have in front of us, many people (me included) will inevitably feel that the grass is greener on the other side.

Don't you think the view far ahead is brighter, more colourful and vibrant, when compared to dull grey colour in front of us?

But is it real .... what if the view outside the confine of the rectagular opening is not as fantastic as what it appears?

Can we make our current mundane life more exciting and fulfilling? Perhaps, it is all in our mindset. Didn't the psychologist/psychiatrist always say "it is mind over matter"!

Old and New Housing Blocks

The decade old HDB housing blocks at Dakota Crescent have been vacated for over 2 years. They still carries certain nostalgic charm, despite their age.

At the same time, new BTO (build to order) HDB housing blocks near Dakota MRT station are finally completed a few months back, with new residents moving in gradually. The external facade is pleasing to eyes.

The old units were sold at cost of < 50k in the 60s, compared to the exorbitant cost of 300-400k in recent years...

If the cost of HDB housing units is not managed properly, not many young families can afford new houses in the future!

Little India

It has been over one week pass Deepavali celebration. The light decor in Little India is still not dismantled yet (read from the internet that the light decor will continue till mid November).

After seeing a patient in the evening, I drove to Little India for some night photography.

It was already passed 9.40pm when I reached a small alley branching off from Serangoon Rd. Most of the shops had already closed. Only restaurants, barber shops and fruit/vegetable stalls were still open. Managed to park my car in the one-way street branching off from Serangoon Rd. It was free parking from 10pm onwards.

Walked around Little India, snapping some photos along the way.

Chanced upon this multi-storey carpark, with colourful vehicles on-display. I have a hard time deciphering if these are real cars, or just some computer gimmick on display...

Colourful shop-houses in Little India - the yellow shop-house belongs to a restaurant... still open for business.

The colorful display of garlands...

Fruit stall... there were still quite a number of people buying fruits from the stall.

Religious statues on display, and for sale...

Was pleasantly surprise by the colourful facade of the Indian Heritage Centre (I didn't know that there was such a centre till then).

The light decor along Serangoon Rd...

A small Methodist Church hidden in one obscure corner in Little India.

An Eating House, still open for business...

In another one week or so, it will be Orchard Rd's turn ... with Christmas Lights-up!

Snapshots during walking exercise

Brought along my camera when going out for my regular evening walking exercise.
Strolling along the familiar exercise trail along Geylang River, snapping some random photos along the way.
The sky turned dark quite fast... Was nevertheless quite happy with some of the photos taken during the one hour exercise.

Was rather impressed with the elegance of the metal peacock placed right in front of our apartment door

Leisure walk versus jogging

Most happy of all was ... able to clock in 10500 steps of walking, and 25 minutes of moderately vigorous activity on my exercise tracker!
