Exploring "macro"photography

Bought an extension ring to try out macrophotography.

The extension rings were quite affordable (~$60), compared to the real gear which goes over $500.

The photos of the flowers look quite "artistic", but it was quite a hazzle to take (difficult to keep things in focus).

A few samples below:

Hmmm... will try with my other lens the next round.

Mid-Autumn Festival Light Up 2019

Mid-autumn festival is coming. Chinatown light decors were lit up, ready for the celebration.

Wanted to try out some night photography. Hence, drove out to Chinatown last night to explore the area last night.

Parked my car in Hong Lim Hawker Centre multi-storey car park. Ate late dinner at a Michellin graded curry chicken noodle store. By the time I finished my dinner and walked to nearby Chinatown, it was almost 8.50pm.

The place was not as crowded as I thought. Perhaps it was a weekday; or perhaps Singaporeans are generally not too excited about Mid-autumn festival (when compared to Chinese New Year celebration).

Highlight of the light up - Moon fairy 嫦娥。The initial figurine was mired with controversy, as it was deemed to be too musculine and had to be changed.

The light decoration along the streets.

Stores selling lanterns!

Random photos in the Chinatown.

Somehow, the whole atmosphere lacked the hustle/bustles of festive celebration.

Singapore Night Festival

The annual Singapore Night Festival is on-going this week.
I have never attended any of the night festivals in previous years.
I wanted to take some night photography with my camera. Hence, I drove out with my wife to pay a visit to the night decors along Bras Basah Rd two nights ago.

The place was crowded, but in an orderly manner. The light show repeated itself every few minutes, hence there was no need for audience to throng the place for hours to have a glimpse of the show.
Taking photos of the lights were a brisk, no need to worry about people blocking your view.

Didn't realise that there are many restaurants at the basement level of the building complex.

Another high light of the light decor at Capitol building.

The light shows were interesting, possibly enchanting to little kids.
The static light decors were average, nothing to shout about.
Overall, it was a little bit of a let down... not as grand as I expected.
