CK completed his National Service (so called "ORD") by first week of Feb 2018. Barely two weeks later, on 2nd day of Lunar New Year (17 Feb), he embarked on another milestones i.e. flying to Melbourne to start his first year of medical study in Monash University. He had to enrol into the course (complete some registration) by 19 Feb.
He was sent off by his JC, Catholic High and NS friends.
The next week (18-25 Feb) was spent on registration, opening bank account, cleaning rented apartment (which is shared between him and CY), familiarising with surroundings, buying mattress, stocking up food /fruitsm and exploring the food in Melbourne.
Rented a car from airport, and added CK as second driver. I must say he drove quite well and confidently on the roads /highway.
Spoilt CY's new upright vacuum cleaner which she bought from KMart (just barely 4-5 months ago) - hopefully she is able to get an exchange (as it is still within one year warranty period). I had accidentally pulled on the electrical cord during vacuuming, and probably disconnected the circuit in the process.
The apartment was furnished with a fridge and washer, and some tables/chairs (most other apartments are unfurnished). However, the minus point is the leaking air-condition units in both rooms. It was so bad that the leaking water dripped into the power point in 2nd bedroom, triggering a short circuit in a few linked power points. The electrician fixed the faulty socket which was wet with small pool of water the following day.
Best wishes to CK for his new adventures in Monash. Looks like he was enjoying the first few days in campus.
